October

Slow reading month for me....

Sarah Stewart Taylor, Still as Death
#4 in the Sweeney St George series, this one has an Egyptology theme and finds Sweeney solving a new mystery that is linked to an older one

Elizabeth Bloom, The Mortician's Daughter
Hopefully this will be the first in a series. Main character Ginny Lavoie is a NY police detective who returns to her hometown in northern Massachusetts when the son of a friend is killed. Good mystery, plus some humor. This is the name Beth Saulnier is publishing under these days (series from the 1990s about a reporter in a thinly veiled Ithaca).

Jeff Abbott, Fear
Not as good as it could have been. A man in the witness protection program gets pulled into a case involving a new medicine.

Steve Hamilton, A Stolen Season
Latest in the Alex McKnight series, good story but some sad plot twists.

Jonnie Jacobs, The Only Suspect
Very enjoyable. A man with a past is accused of his wife's murder. First person narration from his point of view, coupled with third-person narrative from the pov of the detective, Hannah Montgomery.
